3 Steps: How to Use Painless Laser Hair Removal at Home

Use these 3 easy steps to use this painless laser hair removal at home featuring Ulike

Hard wax on a leg

If you clicked on this blog post, you are probably trying to get rid of your facial or body hair. As a licensed esthetician, I have a unique perspective on this. When I waxed clients in person, they would have to make a regularly scheduled appointment. This would help keep up with their hair growth cycle. Next, I understand not everyone can afford waxing. However, shaving in-between waxing appointments messes with the hair growth. Messing with the growth cycle can create ingrown hairs.

My customers would ask me if there was an easier way to remove hair without the pain of waxing. Furthermore, they would also want to find ways of preventing the annoying ingrown hairs.

There is a professional serum that I had quite a lot of progress with that I would apply after waxing. My main issue, is that I have issues with waxing my own body. There is an angle you have to pull the wax strip from to prevent bruising. Trust me, I am not that flexible. You also have to wax regularly. The serum also has to be put on directly after waxing for it to fully be effective.

This brings me to laser hair removal. I am by no means a professional in the field of laser. However, what I do know about it is, that only certain hair colors work effectively for laser and you must shave before the procedure.

Fortunately, Ulike reached out to me and asked if I would like to work with them and of course, I kindly asked to try the device. They have graciously given me a laser hair removal device to review and give my honest opinion to all of you. The kit comes with instructions, glasses, a razor, the laser hair removal device, and the plug/extension of the machine.

If you are interested in looking at a similar device that also works with light therapy, you can check out my LightStim blog post here.

The pictures posted below will be from my legs and as time progresses I will be happy to give up dates on my results with dates. This is my first time using a laser hair removal device or having it done at all. Check out the process and steps I took below.

Step 1: Shaving

Prep your legs for laser treatment

The first step to prepping for the laser device, is to shave your legs in the shower or bath. The Ulike kit comes with a small razor for shaving if you don’t have a fresh blade available.

Pictured is the razor that comes in your Ulike kit. After getting out of the shower I would recommend wearing just your underwear and getting comfortable on your bed with plenty of light to see.

Step 2: Set Up

The Ulike laser hair removal device has 3 different settings.

Ulike laser hair removal 3 different modes

Soft Mode: Face, under lips, and bikini

Body Mode: Legs and arms

Power Mode: Chest, under armpits

After you pick a setting, (I choose body mode for my legs), you will align the end of the device to your the part of your body you want to eliminate hair from. which brings us to step 3.

Step 3: Laser Hair Removal

The laser hair removal kit comes with black sunglasses. I decided to wear them just to be on the safe side and I would recommended that you do as well. The light is very bright and repetitive for a session of about 12 minutes. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect once the laser went off. I didn’t feel anything! It didn’t hurt at all and in fact I found the experience very enjoyable.

Aftercare & Side Effects

Technically this could be step 4, but it’s a really simple step. After you are finished with your laser hair treatment, just find a lotion you like and apply it to your skin. The reason aftercare is important is because some of the side effects are dry skin, irritation, warm skin, and red skin after treatment. I personally have not experienced any of these side effects yet. That being said, I also applied lotion after the treatment which is exactly what you should do to prevent the side effects from happening.

The picture after the lotion is the final result after just 1 treatment. The directions say that you need to do this treatment 3 times a week. I am going to do an update on this blog post as well as my social media once I get to the 8-week mark.
