Spa Kit: Nighttime Self-Care Set
I recently posted a giveaway on my socials featuring the Spa Kit: Nighttime Self-Care Set from Green Beauty Co. This kit includes a bar of Neem Soap, Supercharge Vitamin A Serum, and a Kansa Wand.
Many of you have used Gua Sha stones but were curious on how to incorporate a Kansa Wand. Let’s go over the history of the Kansa Wand and how you can use it in your own skincare routine.
The History of the Kansa Wand
The Kansa Wand dates back to the bronze age in India and is used often in Ayurvedic medicine. It balances the three Doshas, which are the Vata (Air), Pitta (Fire), and Kapha (Water). Doshas are energies in the body that influence your overall health. It is a holistic practice of balancing your mind and body which has been proven in studies.
The goal is to increase your Prana (Life Force) and bring about your Tejas (Inner Radiance). The healing energy of Pitta, the restoration of Ojas (the ultimate energy in your body) is derived from Kapha.
A Kansa Wand is a small domed tool used to massage the face and body, energizing while reducing stress. It helps draw out acidity from your tissues and improve your body’s natural electrical energy system. The metal used in Kansa Wands are called the “bell metal” because Tibetan gongs are also made out of the same material. This metal and it’s ability to balance the Ph of your skin and body is amazing and has also been proven beneficial in studies.
How it Works on the Skin
The copper and tin on the Kansa Wand has alkaline properties so that when it touches your skin, it interacts with the microbiome of your skin. Not to mention, it helps to balance your skin’s Ph balance. When your skin has a high level of acid content or a general imbalance it can cause sensitivity, premature aging, wrinkles, inflammation, or acne. Using a Kansa wand can help to prevent this issues with regular use.
Additionally, the movements of the Kansa Wand massage helps to drain lymph nodes, much like you would do with Gua Sha stones. Physical massage and lymphatic drainage bring fresh oxygen to the skin and oxygenating your blood leaving a beautiful, natural glow.
Can I use my Kansa Wand Every day?
You can use your Kansa Wand a couple of times a week. A good massage medium to use for your skin is one that a lot of licensed estheticians use, including myself, is Grapeseed Oil. You can easily buy this at the store in the cooking oil section.
The reason I would recommend using Grapeseed Oil is because Grapeseed Oil is high in linoleic acid which helps to strengthen your skin’s barrier, reduces inflammation and acne. Other oils like Olive Oil strip your skin barrier. Coconut Oil is comedogenic and pore clogging. This is the opposite effect we want for our skin.
Are there Cons to Using a Kansa Wand?
First, you want to make sure that before using any metal tool or object of any kind on your skin, that you aren’t allergic or sensitive to that metal. Read the contents on the website your purchase the tool from or when in doubt, ask the customer service representative directly.
One thing you may not like about using a Kansa Wand is that it could turn your skin grey. This is the reaction from the copper, tin, and traces of zinc reacting with your skin’s acidity. This however can be easily washed off your skin.
Witchy Tip
Copper is associated with working with your hands and creative endeavors. It is also used to create harmony and balance. How wonderful that this can be explained in scientific studies as I stated above. Tin, also found in Kansa Wands is associated with success, money, prosperity, and trading.
When using the Kansa Wand, you could use it as a manifesting tool. When you use copper wire, for example, in a spell it is used to give extra energy to whatever you are trying to accomplish. Whatever spell you choose to use for prosperity and success, I would also chant the spell while using the Kansa Wand to add power to your spell.
