Melna Beauty is a small business that makes artisan soaps and bath oils. Their soaps are made from Shea Butter sourced from East and West Africa and are free from Palm Oil. Local farmers grow the herbs added to their products from the south of Florida. They also have after-shower or bath oils to keep your skin hydrated and soft.

When Melna Beauty reached out to me, they asked if I would like to review a few of their products, and of course I said yes! I was gifted two soaps and one body oil to try. They were also featured on the “Very Good Mondays” on Tabitha Brown’s Instagram.

Artisan Soap Bars

Let’s go over them!

Mango and Lime Soap

The Mango and Lime Soap is located in the exfoliating section on their website. This soap is made with Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Mango Butter, Ground Mango, Lime Powder, Glycerin, and Phthalate-Free Fragrance. You can use this as a body or hand soap bar.

Key Ingredients

Shea Butter

Shea butter‘s emollient properties help to seal in moisture that makes your skin smooth and soft.

Shea butter
Coconut oil

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is great for protecting your skin’s barrier and calming inflammation.

Castor Oil

Castor oil helps prevent wrinkles, acne, reduces puffiness, and moisturizes your skin.

Castor oil
Olive oil

Olive Oil

Olive oil has antioxidants and is rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E. If you have dermatitis, sensitive, or oily skin, olive oil may aggravate your skin condition. Please make sure to do your research before using a product with olive oil in it.

Mango Butter

Mango butter is generally great for most skin types as it’s non-comedogenic and very moisturizing. It also has salicylic acid and anti-oxidants.

Limes

Lime Powder

Lime powder helps with acne, dark spots, and helps with excess oil. Using limes by themselves is not a good idea, but the powder itself in small amounts is safe to use.

Peruvian Maca Honey

The Peruvian Maca Honey soap bar is located in Melna Beauty’s exfoliation section on their website as well. It has Peruvian Red Maca, Honey, Coconut Oil, Shea, Olive, Castor, and Paprika. You can use this as a hand or body soap bar.

Key Ingredients

Peruvian Red Maca

Peruvian Red Maca powder helps with inflammation and helps to speed up wound healing. You can also find this in an edible form for other benefits like sexual health for women.

Honey

Honey

Honey is not only calming for eczema and acne, but it also helps with the fading of scars.

Paprika

Paprika sounds like an odd ingredient for soap, but studies have found that it actually hydrates your skin significantly.

Body Oil

Melna after shower bath and body oil

Melna Beauty also has after-shower or bath body oils. The body oil I was sent is in the purple bottle. They go by their scents, but the bottles are labeled the same, save for the ingredients listed on the back of the bottle. The ingredients in my body oil were Caprylic Capric Triglycerides, Apricot oil, Grapeseed oil, Avocado oil, Rice Bran, and floating herbs/petals + essential oils. The fragrance is phthalate-free.

The scent for me was too sweet and reminded me of grape cough syrup. You may love this scent, but it just wasn’t my favorite. I will say though that the oil was very nourishing and does absorb quickly into your skin. It wasn’t sticky and didn’t leave a film, just moisturized skin.

I really like a lot of the ingredients that are listed in this oil and the petals are so pretty inside. Let’s go over the ingredient deck.

Key Ingredients

Apricot oil

Apricot Oil

Apricot oil is great for treating acne vulgaris, dandruff, and furuncle due to its antioxidant, antimicrobial, antimicrobial anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties. It has also been used to fight free radicals and promotes skin barrier homeostasis.

Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, and anti-dermatitis properties. It also has moisturizing, regenerative, anti-wrinkle, and photo-protective effects.

Grapeseed Oil
Avocado oil

Avocado Oil

Avocado Oil can reduce the appearance of wrinkles by boosting collagen production, moisturizing the skin, and increasing the elasticity in your skin.

Rice Bran

Rice Bran is antiaging, anti-inflammatory, whitening, photoprotective, and moisturizing.

Phthalate-free

Phthalate-free

Phthalate-free fragrance in a nutshell means that there are no harmful plastics that would be harmful for humans to use.

Witchy Tip

If you want to elevate your bath or after-shower experience, you can try adding in a candle. Personally, I like to set an intention and do a shower or a bath meditation spiritual cleanse.

If you want to read more on shower or bath meditations, you can read my blog post here.

You can use any candle in your home, but if you would like a fun recommendation, I found this really cute candle set from Bloomingdales! Click or tap my affiliate link to get yours here!

There are a total of 12 candles in the whole set. They are the perfect size for your bathtub corner or on your bathroom counter, whichever you can do safely. There are so many to choose from to match your artisan soap bar scent.

The scents featured:

  • Goji Tarocco Orange
  • Baltic Amber
  • Forbidden Fig
  • Santal Vanille
  • Santiago Huckleberry
  • French Cade
  • Lavender
  • Panjore Lychee
  • Kalahari Watermelon
  • Apple
  • Blue Clover
  • Moso Bamboo
  • Jasmine Midnight Blooms

My Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed trying this soap and there are a lot of great ingredients inside of them. Not only that, but the amount of soap you are getting for the price is more than fair and also affordable at $10 and under before tax and shipping. If you are looking into buying from a small business that sells artisan soap bars, this is a great one to look into.

UPDATE:

I’m not sure what is happening with the company, but as of 09/15/2024 there is no website to purchase soap or any other products.
